The Eugene Hearing and Speech Center offers a fun and safe environment for children to improve their oral communication skills. All of our classes are small, with at least one teacher per three students. Classroom programs include our popular Toddler Groups for youngsters at risk for speech/language delays, the Communication Classroom for pre-school age children with identified delays and the Summer Early Literacy program for kids attending kindergarten or first grade who are at risk for future reading difficulties.
We are committed to enhancing the communication skills of each child in our program. Our classrooms are set up for most activities to occur in a child-led format. Current research demonstrates that children learn most effectively when exploring things that interest them. The classroom staff will follow the child’s lead while addressing speech/language goals within play.
Our classes meet once a week for two hours. The classes are taught by a combination of Speech/Language Pathologist, Speech/Language Pathology Assistants and University of Oregon Graduate students. All of our teachers have early childhood experience and/or education.
